Synopsis
When Tohru Honda was a child, her father passed away. She developed a close relationship with her mother and respected all advice that she received from her. However, one day, even her mother was killed in an unfortunate car accident. Due to bizarre circumstances, Tohru finds herself living in a tent in the forst. Her kind and optimistic nature prevents her from feeling sad about her current situation.

One day, she stumbles upon a home during her walk to school. Apparently, she had been living on the property of the Sohma family, and she is only too happy to find herself in the company of one of her popular classmates, Yuki Sohma. She later becomes adopted into the household, and discovers the mystery surrounding Yuki's reluctance to be near any of the female students. All of the members of the Sohma family are cursed so that any skin-to-skin contact by members of the opposite sex results in a strange transformation: the metamorphosis into one of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac!
